I was sooooooo close to not finishing. And I almost always finish.

The general theme and idea for this book was on point (anonymous dating app, best friend’s brother, and office romance) and intriguing, but the execution? Not so much. The first chapter, where you can already tell how head over heels June is for Beau but she feels like they could never be together? I loved it.

That being said, the chemistry and reasons why they couldn't be together felt so forced, which really started to drag the book down.

It really pissed me off that Beau instantly started flirting with June on the app, how comfortable he seemed having VERY flirty conversations when he didn’t know who was on the receiving end. Even when they do start regularly texting, I really hated how he couldn't figure out who she was – because really, how many other females who worked in his department were mentioned?

Also… the side characters were all kind of horrible. Avery is supposed to be June’s best friend, the one who really took her in after June’s family abandoned her (which is literally mentioned every single chapter), but June just isn’t supportive at all. She is constantly leaving June to take care of her work while she goes and gets her hair and nails done (really). And spoiler alert when Avery finds out about June and Beau’s relationship, instead of being happy about it and actually supporting her best friend and brother for once, she completely freaks out and makes June feel guilty – essentially being responsible for the spoiler alert third act breakup (which also just felt super forced).

Overall:

  • There was some chemistry on the dating app, but it all disappeared when they met in person

  • Their relationship was 90% lust

  • Avery was the worst best friend every and essentially was just tearing away at June and Beau’s relationship the entire novel

  • Beau was kind of an idiot

  • The theme and idea for the books was there, but just so poorly executed

  • It was a really cute office/dating app/best friend's brother romance, but just really poorly done.

  • They all acted really immaturely about the relationship
